2nd Annual Nature Festival
You and your family are invited to join Missaukee
Conservation District (MCD) in celebrating Arbor Day and Earth Day at Missaukee
County Offices, located at 6180 W
Sanborn Road,
Lake City,
on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. The festivities will take place
on or near The “N.E.W.” Missaukee
Fitness and Nature Trail including many fun and educational activities:
Fun and easy exercises that you can do at home, all you
need is a resistance band.
These exercises are low impact and can be modified for all
fitness levels from beginner to advanced. Thank you to Kim Harrigan, Health
Educator for District Health Department #10 for coordinating this event.
- Build Your Own Terrarium
Build your very own terrarium to take home with you. Thank you to Sharon
Pintrick, Missaukee MSUE 4-H Agent, for coordinating this event.
- Build a Bagel Birdfeeder
Take home a tasty morsel for your feathered friends to enjoy. Thank
you to Donna Kirchoff, MCD volunteer, for coordinating this event.
- Alphabet Hike
Walk the trail and find letters of the alphabet grown in nature. Thank you to Irene and Doug Law, MCD volunteers, for
coordinating this event.
- Scavenger Hunt
The purpose of this activity is to teach participants to be observant
and respectful of nature. Coordinated by MCD.
- Girl Scout Cookies
If you missed your chance to purchase girl scout cookies, Girl Scouts
will be selling their wares.
- Lunch
Always a favorite. Hotdogs and a drink will be served on the trail.

- Recycling Displays
View practical ideas to reuse or recycle everyday items. Thank you to
the Friendly Garden Club for coordinating this display.
- Missaukee District Library
A display of “reusable” books, magazines and movies available. Visit
your local library for nature, recycling and earth information. Need a
library card? Come and fill out an application. Thank you to Michelle
Moore, Missaukee District Library Librarian, for coordinating this display.
- Seedlings for
Sale
Missed the seedling sale? No problem, come browse our seedling
offering; products remaining from tree sale taking place April 24-25 will
be available.
