Also called tupelo, this mid-sized tree is known for its spectacular fall foliage and the interesting, alligator-like bark it develops as it ages. The nectar from its flowers is ideal for honey production. Seedlings are highly susceptible to deer browsing and will need to be protected until mature. Attracts birds, pollinators, and other wildlife, and is a host plant for butterflies or moths.
